H₂ OFF-TAKE
Green hydrogen can be directly burnt in liquid or gaseous form in fuel cells, gas turbines and combustion engines in a climate-neutral way. In the form of liquid or gaseous e-fuel, green hydrogen can be converted into mechanical energy in practically all areas of life through combustion in internal combustion engines, and in turn into electrical energy through connected generators.
How can we support you in off-taking hydrogen?
To fuel switch a gas turbine from natural gas to a natural gas/hydrogen mix or to pure hydrogen operation, a number of conversions and tests must be carried out.
We develop, plan, organise and test the measures required to operate a gas turbine with a natural gas/hydrogen mix or pure hydrogen. We proceed as follows:
- Conversion of the fuel supply: Gas lines, gas filters, shut-off valves and the quick-acting valve are checked for continued usability. Depending on the material, pressure and temperature, a further usability or replacement is determined.
- Replacement of the burners: new burners are required for the combustion of hydrogen. Especially for older gas turbine types, we develop new burners with solution partners.
- Checking the turbine controllers and turbine protection: after replacement of the burners, the turbine controllers and turbine protection as well as all associated systems must be checked/renewed. This includes the temperature monitoring, the ignition system ( flash back prodection), the pulsation measurement, the flame monitoring, the gas warning system and the speed monitoring.
- Preparation of safety concept and explosion protection: in the event of a fuel change, the explosion protection of the gas turbine building must be reworked and the safety concept must be newly prepared.
